About The Academy

The Academy is part of the Charlotte County Public School System. It is located on the campus of the Charlotte Technical Center. Our primary function is to provide alternative educational opportunities to students that find difficulties in the traditional school system.

Our mission is to provide a unique, caring and flexible learning environment that allows every opportunity for student success.
The Academy is comprised of several smaller programs to provide optimal services depending on a particular student's situation. These programs are:

The Academy provides alternative education for at-risk teens. We also provide services for teen parents and teens who have previously dropped out of school. Flexible block scheduling provides opportunity for accelerated credit retrieval and alternative diploma options provide an incentive for students that are more than one year behind in school.

CareerQuest provides alternative scheduling for young adults who are already working. CareerQuest is located in the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall next to Dillards.

PASS Program is our new alternative middle school to facilitate students preparing to enter high school. The program has forty students that rotate between two teachers. Visit the PASS Program page for more details.

SEA Program services students that have experienced discipline problems in their home school. This goal of this program is to maintain educational progress while promoting positive behaviors.
